The Wichita Falls Museum of Art (WFMA) serves the community and the university as an important educational resource. Through outstanding exhibitions of art and a variety of educational programs for adults and children, the WFMA is building bridges and making connections through new experiences in art for all ages.
A major goal of the WFMA is to stimulate awareness and appreciation of visual art through the growth of our permanent collections, the variety of our changing exhibitions, and the vitality of our educational programs and public events. The Museum is distinguished for the care, exhibition and interpretation of our collection focused on American art and artworks on paper. Most importantly, the WFMA enriches the life of our community and provides rich experiences for visitors to encourage lifetime connections to visual art.
The WFMA is fortunate to be a vital educational component of Midwestern State University. The WFMA supports MSU’s liberal arts mission and its educational, research, and service goals. Aligned with the University’s goals, is the Museum’s goal to provide enriching, life-long educational opportunities for all visitors. An academic art museum is a vital center of original research, interdisciplinary dialogue, and participatory learning, and the WFMA is an exemplarily art museum in a university setting.
Recently we received a letter from a 6th grader at Washington Jackson Elementary School explaining, “Your artwork had a huge inspiration on me to the point that I decided to start my own journey to follow my dreams.” It is the aspiration of every museum to change lives. It is certainly gratifying when we receive such accolades from a youngster who appreciates all the WFMA has to offer.
We hope you visit the WFMA often. We are always free, and you are always welcome.
